350,000 Plastic Cups Saved!

Sheffield City Trust introduced reusable Stack-Cups to Utilita Arena Sheffield, which, over the course of six months has reduced the need for an estimated 350,000 plastic cups, drastically lessening its environmental impact to celebrate national Earth Day!

More than 60,000 reusable pint cups are in rotation to cover demand, enabling both sites to significantly decrease CO2 emissions by an approximate 133 Mg C (tonnes) so far!

At the end of an event, customers can take their clever cups home to enjoy at their leisure and re-use when returning to the greener arena or simply leave their reusable cups in the designated bins provided (never in general waste!), ready to be professionally cleaned and placed back into circulation.

Dominic Stokes, Head of Live Events and Venues at Sheffield City Trust said:

“Sheffield City Trust have removed single use, disposable cups and replaced them with reusable cups. This forms one part of our environmental commitment to reduce plastic waste and lower our carbon footprint.

Each year on April 22, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day to protect the planet from things like pollution and deforestation. By taking part in activities like picking up litter and planting trees, everyone is making our world a happier, healthier place to live.

There are thirteen limited Stack-Cup designs to see, displaying all Utilita Arena Sheffield and City Hall have to offer customers: entertainment, sport, and comedy.
