An exciting new chapter coming soon at Utilita Arena and City Hall
January 2025 saw two of Sheffield’s most iconic venues Utilita Arena and Sheffield City Hall join the ASM Global family - the home of first direct Arena Leeds, Manchester's AO Arena and Bridgewater Hall, OVO Arena Wembley and many more.
The new operators will oversee a brand new chapter for Sheffield’s best loved venues as they look ahead to an exciting future, with investment powering a series of improvement works, funded by Sheffield City Council and ASM Global. Taking place across all areas of Utilita Arena, the vision is to reimagine the venue as a world-class touring destination, while developing the venue experience at Sheffield City Hall in line with its prestigious heritage identity.

From Spring 2025, Utilita Arena can look forward to more tills and the launch of the self-service Boxbar, plus frictionless scan-and-collect' bars - all with the aim of reducing your waiting time so you can enjoy your experience. Improved concourse screens will make it easier to navigate the new food and drink range too! City Hall will benefit from improved in-venue signage and audience experience, while retaining its legendary look and feel.
When it comes to your time at both venues, we know sometimes the basics are the most important - that's why we'll also be making phased improvements to all toilet facilities to reduce waiting times, which will be starting this Summer to ensure we can continue to host events whilst making these changes.
Brand New Food and Drink Offering
Look forward to tasty treats and delectable drinks as both venues broaden the menus across the concourses and kiosks - from a seasonal range of grab-and-go snacks and classic pizzas, burgers and more, to a new selection of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
AI Security Screening
Guests will now experience the latest in AI security screening as Evolv concealed objects detection system was launched in June 2025 and will be in place for all events, providing enhanced venue security while ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for guests to revolutionize the fan experience.
The new security system, powered by artificial intelligence, allows guests to be screened in real-time at their natural walking pace without the need to remove items from pockets or bags. This approach is designed to reduce queue times, minimize congestion, and provide an efficient entry process, all while maintaining a high level of security.
The Evolv Express® system, already trusted by major venues and organizations across the UK and US, allows guests to move through the screening at their natural walking pace without the need to remove items from pockets or bags, aiming to significantly reduce queue times and ease congestion while maintaining high security standards.
